The Promise LAN: Part 2 4m 27s
00:15
And welcome to part 2 of Promise LAN!
00:18
Now that your device is connected, let’s walk through using it to control your mixer.
00:24
Now let’s take a look at the mixer control surface on  your iPad or tablet.
00:29
Let’s say you would like to mix the house while being away from the mixer.
00:34
When you grant your device access to the mixer, you’ll want to choose “all access.”
00:41
You’ll notice at first glance that the mix window on your device is exactly the same as your mixer,
00:47
which makes for a seamless transition when you’re working between the two.
00:52
The only difference between the mixer and the device surface
00:55
is that the hard buttons that are on the mixer are soft buttons on your device.
01:02
Up here is your all-important home button.
01:05
Remember this will return  you to your main mix window and in a few cases act as a back space button.
01:15
The menu button gives you access to various other set up functions for your mixer.
01:21
The one button that is not available here is the remote control access.
01:26
Remote control can only be granted from the mixer and not from another iPad or tablet.
01:34
The buttons in this section bring up the exact same menus that we learned about in the video “Becoming Familiar with the Hardware on Your TouchMix”
01:43
Quick note: when the FX mute button is black, the FX are engaged.
01:50
When the FX mute button is red then the FX are muted.
01:56
When making fine adjustments to parameters becomes too cumbersome by sliding your finger on the control surface,
02:02
you can use these arrows here to make adjustments in 1 dB increments.
02:10
To make even finer adjustments in 1/2 dB increments, use the up and down arrows to make your changes.
02:18
You can use these arrows to adjust all parameters on your surface as needed.
02:23
This is the talkback button. The difference here is that, instead of holding the button down to talk like you would on the mixer,
02:31
the tablet button is latching.
02:33
Meaning, you press it once to turn it on, do your talking, and then press it again to turn it off.
02:40
You’ll know that your talkback mic is open if the talk button is highlighted blue.
02:46
When the “Follow Mixer” button is highlighted blue, that means whichever input fader is selected on the mixer,
02:54
will allow the parameters  do be displayed on the iPad or tablet.
02:59
Ok, let’s say you’re assigning control to the musicians using in-ear-monitors
03:05
so they can set and control their own mixes.
03:08
When you’re granting access to their smart phones,
03:11
you will only allow access to whichever mix is theirs.
03:15
And here’s a tip: labeling their aux send with their name makes it a whole lot easier for you and the musician to locate their mix.
03:25
For the musician, when you open the TouchMix Control app on your smart device,
03:30
the first thing you need to do is select the mix that has been assigned to you.
03:35
Right here where it says “selected mix;” touch that, and then choose your mix.
03:42
You’ll know you’re on your mix if the faders are colored.
03:46
The faders will be greyed out if you’re not on your assigned mix.
03:51
To switch between input banks, touch “selected bank” and then choose the bank you would like.
03:58
If you are using a stereo in-ear-monitor mix, the pan function will be available to you here.
04:05
And there you have it. Wireless remote control with your TouchMix mixer.
04:11
There are so many wonderful applications for mixing wirelessly.
04:16
Take advantage of this feature and discover the power, control and convenience of this functionality.
