Hey there and welcome to Part 2 of the mixer presets and scenes videos. In this video we will show you
00:21
In this video we will show you how to use your presets to dial up an effective mix quickly and easily. Let’s dive right in!
00:29
To work with channel presets, start by pressing the home button,
00:34
select a channel and touch the preset tab. Make sure the factory/user switch is in factory position.
00:42
In the left window you’ll see a list of instrument categories;
00:46
bass, drums, frets, keyboards and so on.
00:51
Touch an instrument category name and a list of specific instruments will appear in the middle window.
00:57
Select a type of instrument and the right window will display a list of options for that instrument.
01:03
Depending on the instrument selected, there may be options with or without gates and compressors
01:09
as well as options for various microphones and pickups or different styles of music.
01:14
Select the one that seems best for your application.
01:18
If you want to learn more about that preset, touch the preset info button
01:23
and a pop up with details such as type of microphones and placement will appear.
01:29
Once you’ve found the right preset just touch the “recall preset” button.
01:34
Values for Equalization, compressor settings and gate settings will be loaded into the channel
01:41
as well as assigning it a default name, level and phantom power.
01:47
In the preset tab you can select the next arrow to move to the next channel
01:51
and repeat the process until all of the channels you need are set up.
01:57
You can tell which channel you’re working on by looking at this window.
02:02
Now, let’s say that you’re midway through setting up your mix, you’ve customized some channel names
02:08
and you’ve made some level adjustments on your main faders.
02:11
However, now you’ve decided the preset that you’ve used for Jeff’s acoustic guitar isn’t right for your mix
02:19
and you want to recall a different preset. But you want to keep your custom channel name and level adjustments.
02:26
To do that you will simply choose a new preset but also engage the omit levels and omit name.
02:35
This will replace all of the EQs, comps and gates but leave the existing levels and gates alone.
02:43
Once all your channels have the appropriate presets
02:46
you have the option to continue to fine tune your sound manually
02:50
and when you’re all done, it’s a good idea to save your preset or save the whole scene.
02:57
To save a preset, return to a channel’s preset window,
03:01
switch over to user mode and then press save/save as.
03:08
Give your preset a custom name and decide whether you would like to save the preset to the mixer itself or an external USB drive.
03:17
To save the entire mixer as a scene,
03:20
press menu and then scenes and, just like in presets, you can give your scene its own name and decide where to save it.
03:31
Saving a scene includes all the mixer settings on every channel,
03:35
including its presets, FX selections, pan, EQs, compressors, gates and level settings.
03:44
You may notice that TouchMix comes with several factory installed scenes.
03:49
These are very useful to load a selection of common presets for a basic band setup to get your mix together even faster.
03:58
One of those factory scenes is the Praise Band scene,
04:02
which is the topic of our next video.
04:04
Whenever you’re ready,
04:06
check out the next video in this series to learn more details about this scene.
