Hi and welcome to the L Class training series. My name is Jason.
0:11
And I’m Chris.
0:12
In this video we are going to introduce you to the L Class Active line array system.
0:17
This will serve as a quick overview to get you acquianted with the basics of the product.
0:22
Let’s start by first briefly describing what a line array is.
0:25
Have you ever been to a concert or an event and the sound system contains
0:29
loudspeakers that are connected together and arranged in large stripes that often have a curve to them?
0:34
That’s a line array
0:35
Simply put, a line array is a series of loudspeakers,
0:38
deployed and processed to act as one single, large loudspeaker,
0:42
instead of multiple loudspeakers acting separately.
0:44
There are many options for how a line array can be deployed,
0:48
and lots of care needs to be taken to ensure that the entire
0:50
system behaves TOGETHER as a single audio source.
0:53
If not deployed correctly, individual loudspeakers
0:56
If not deployed correctly, individual loudspeakers
1:00
throughout the audience area, which obviously makes for a less-enjoyable mixing and listening experience.
1:06
Through a series of both mechanical and digital processing innovations,
1:09
the L Class Active line array offers a superior experience from setup to show time.
1:14
For musicians and mobile entertainers,
1:16
or rental/production and fixed install applications,
1:19
L Class technologies are designed to work quickly, easily, and accurately for your application.
1:25
Here are the highlights;
1:30
Physically connecting your L Class line array is  step one,
1:33
and QSC Rapid Deploy rigging system does almost all of the work for you.
1:37
Box to box connection and angle adjustments can be made simply and easily by a single operator,
1:43
saving loads of time during setup.
1:45
RapidDeploy also has no cumbersome hardware or external parts needed for setup.
1:49
Connecting and disconnecting loudspeakers, as well as box to box angle adjustment is now a breeze,
1:55
taking only a few seconds to safely set up or tear down.
1:58
Click the link in the description below to view the video dedicated to training about RapidDeploy,
2:03
which will cover this design in greater detail.
2:05
Once everything is connected and the angles are set,
2:08
the setup experience is simplified even further by the proprietary QSC AWARE™ system.
2:14
AWARE technology determines if a loudspeaker is a member of an array,
2:17
its position, AND its relative angle within the array.
2:21
When connected to the QSC System Navigator app, it will also determine the overall tilt angle,
2:26
the total number of loudspeakers in the array,
2:28
and the global coverage of the system.
2:30
We’ll talk more about system navigator later in the video.
2:33
AWARE uses this information to then optimize the array with the proper Array Correction
2:38
to achieve the best performance possible for your deployment;
2:41
eliminating the trouble of confusing line array DSP settings.
2:45
Just like our RapidDeploy rigging hardware,
2:47
we’ll go over this in much more detail in a separate video linked in the description below.
2:52
So, you’re saying that once the system is powered on it becomes…self…aware?
2:57
Please stop
2:59
Another innovation is our patented LEAF™ Waveguide.
3:02
The QSC LEAF waveguide provides superior acoustic performance,
3:06
thanks to the shapes of its optimized sound paths and internal flares.
3:10
Complex calculations and digital models were generated by the QSC Acoustic Engineering team
3:15
to find the perfect path length that ensures the best high-frequency performance possible from this patented waveguide.
3:21
Because of this, L Class Line Arrays provide consistent high-frequency reproduction,
3:26
even in larger venues with expansive areas and distant audiences.
3:30
The LEAF waveguide provides the ability to crossover at lower frequencies than traditional waveguides,
3:35
which highly improves voice reproduction and articulation,
3:38
while revealing subtle details in the upper-mid and high frequencies that often go unheard.
3:43
And when you couple multiple LEAF waveguides together into an array
3:46
you get the acoustic benefit of powerful and improved, phase-coherent, single source behavior.
3:51
allowing L Class line arrays to be used in larger venues than expected,
4:01
providing quality and consistent sound reproduction for the entire audience, from front to back.
4:07
In addition to this state-of-the-art waveguide technology, we have also implemented digital signal processing
4:13
that we call Acoustic Linear Phase design, or ALP for short.
4:17
QSC ALP employs a combination of filters in the loudspeaker’s DSP
4:21
to address a number of phase-related issues that can occur when mixing and matching different loudspeaker series together
4:27
Used across a range of QSC loudspeakers, ALP creates a uniform listening experience
4:31
and provides the best sound reproduction possible for the entire audience in any speaker combination.
4:37
With ALP you don’t need to worry about the phase relationship of different loudspeakers
4:40
in different environments or deployments. QSC has done all the work for you,
4:46
so you can simply set up your system and get the best, seamless performance possible,
4:50
everywhere, every time.
4:53
The heart of the L Class active line array systems is a state-of-the-art control and monitoring software called System Navigator.
5:00
QSC SysNav is an application used for the design, configuration, control, monitoring
5:02
and logging of compatible QSC L Class loudspeaker systems.
5:09
SysNav provides a rich and intuitive environment
5:11
that includes pre-deployment visualization of acoustic coverage,
5:15
real-time telemetry of your system during the performance,
5:18
and post-show review of equipment operation logs.
5:21
With SysNav, you’ll always have the highest level of control over your loudspeakers from anywhere in the venue.
5:27
Now you should be properly acquainted with the L Class line array system.
5:31
There’s much more to learn so don’t go away just yet.
5:34
In the following videos, we’ll dive into everything discussed in this video in much more detail.
5:39
