Gated Ambient Compensator: This component uses the audio signal of a microphone positioned in the room to detect change in crowd noise, and applies gain or attenuation to its Program Material to compensate.

Pink Noise Generator: This component produces random frequencies that are distributed uniformly across each octave band. In this exercise they are used to produce noise representative of program material and background ambient noise.>

Detector: This is the part of the component that listens to the Microphone input line to detect changes in the crowd noise. The Detector is only active when the Program Material signal is beneath the Program Threshold.
