Patrick: Welcome back.
00:07
Let's get right back into configuring that RoomSuite system.
00:10
Nate: We've named our devices.
00:11
We've got a fully functional UCI.
00:13
Next, let's customize the look and feel of this, shall we?
00:16
Patrick: Now, before we begin,
00:17
I should point out that this next part is, well, it's gonna seem so self-explanatory that you may be wondering,
00:25
"Why are we even bothering?"
00:27
And the truth is, we get paid by the second for screen time, and I've got my eye on a new hat.
00:33
So, uh, get to customizing there.
00:36
No, no, wait, wait, wait, wait.
00:38
Don't cut to the screen cap.
00:39
I want that screen cap bonus.
00:40
Yeah.
00:41
Come on, put, put me in the lower right-hand corner.
00:43
Yeah, sweet hat, here I come.
00:45
Nate: Go away.
00:46
Patrick: Oh.
00:47
Nate: Now, even in its default state, this is a pretty clean UCI.
00:51
But exquisite as this is, a real-world deployment will want elements of it to be personalized.
00:57
We have a range of customization options here that should satisfy most needs.
01:01
So let's dive in.
01:03
First, I'll hit this Edit button up here, which allows me to make real-time changes to the style of the UCI and even the behavior of the touchscreen controller.
01:12
Patrick: There's no need to take the system offline, and in fact,
01:15
it will remain fully functional in its previous state until we finish making the changes and hit Save,
01:20
at which point the UCI will quickly reload with those changes implemented.
01:25
Nate: In fact, let's see that in action.
01:27
I'll leave the color choices set to Simple, but I'm gonna swap out that primary color from blue.
01:34
As you can see, the rendering of the UCI here in RoomSuite Manager has updated,
01:38
while the actual screen in the room won't update until I hit Save.
01:43
Let's make some other changes.
01:45
You can switch this UCI from Light to Dark mode, which automatically changes both the background and text colors to maintain legibility.
01:52
I'll also change the text font to Roboto so that I can
01:57
...thank you very much, oh, Mr. Roboto.
02:00
Now I'll hit Save.
02:01
The UCI will reload, and we can see those changes have all been applied to the actively running UCI.
02:07
Patrick: Changing other aspects of the UCI's appearance is just as easy.
02:11
For starters, if we change the color option from Simple to Advanced, our choices become a lot more granular.
02:20
We can drill down to the colors of the icons, border colors for the buttons, the text colors.
02:25
I've done the math in my head, and there are approximately 2 billion 415 million 919 thousand 104 possible color combinations.
02:37
So I don't wanna see any more complaining on Reddit that you couldn't choose the color that you wanted.
02:43
Nate: Now let's take a look at our image options.
02:46
You have the option to upload both a background image and a company logo.
02:49
I'll add a nice background image here and the logo for my corporate client right here.
02:57
Patrick: Note that the system will automatically scale the background image to fill the screen,
03:01
so make sure your image has the correct aspect ratio to avoid it getting stretched to fill the space.
03:07
Check out q-sys.com/tse to get those resolutions.
03:11
Nate: Next, let's take a look at the icons.
03:13
We can select a specific icon for each of our three video sources to more closely reflect the type of source they represent.
03:20
For my room, these are all pretty much spot on already, but that was just luck, not design.
03:25
Patrick: Though, the ability to read your mind is on the roadmap.
03:28
Nate: Yes.
03:29
Okay, onto our pages options.
03:31
Here, we can add some simple text that appears on the homepage when the system is in standby mode.
03:37
We can also enable the option for the UCI to offer the users a help page, which we can populate with the appropriate information.
03:44
Let's go ahead and name this room Candy Conference Corner.
03:50
Finally, there are some basic device behavior options here in the backlight tab.
03:55
I can set the default backlight level, and also choose to dim or turn off that backlight after a certain period of inactivity.
04:03
Okay, let's hit save one more time.
04:05
The UCI will once again reload, and all of our changes are now live and operational.
04:11
Patrick: Now to add our finishing touches to the user experience.
04:14
Let's look at the occupancy tab there.
04:17
The RMP-100 has a single general purpose input port for this exact purpose.
04:22
Connect that occupancy sensor to the GPI port, and you can enable some simple automation to put the system into standby mode
04:30
after a certain period of inactivity, and wake up the room once activity is detected.
04:36
Nate: Finally, we have the option of adjusting the colors of the LEDs on compatible devices to reflect any call status changes.
04:43
In our room, this allows the NMT-1 microphone, the NL-SB42 soundbar, and the TSC-70G3 touchscreen controllers to all show a clear visual indication
04:54
if a call is being received, and if the microphones are muted or active.
04:59
Here, we can change the color and even the patterns for the lights for these various states.
05:04
I'm gonna change the pattern for my mute state to chasing with tails.
05:09
Patrick: Now that NMT-1 is gonna do that really cool Knight Rider impression when you hit that mute button.
05:15
Nate: Because nothing says modern technology like a Knight Rider reference.
05:19
Patrick: I'm telling you, one day cars will drive themselves.
05:22
Nate: All right, that's it for our UCI and control surfaces.
05:25
We'll see you in the next video.
05:27
Patrick: Michael Knight.
