00:08
Today we’re doing an overview of the QSC Cinema Products catalog.
00:12
We’ll be flying at 10k feet, but that should be plenty in order to acquaint you with the tools we have available to configure any cinema application.
00:21
So let’s get started.
00:23
The QSC Cinema Products catalog includes a wide range of products that are fit to serve the largest multiplex cinemas around the world
00:30
all the way through to your favorite local venue that wants to provide the occasional movie night experience.
00:36
So we’ve got a lot to talk about don’t we?
00:39
As we go through this program we’ll mention some documents that we’ve added to the Links & downloads section.
00:44
So when you see this symbol, it’s a reminder to check ‘em out when you get a chance.
00:49
Let’s start off with our cinema processors.
00:51
QSC was the first company to combine all the essential functions of cinema audio into a single device:
00:57
Crossovers, booth monitor, signal routing, EQ, and even remote status monitoring to satisfy the demand for remote network control.
01:07
Our next generation lineup of processors currently includes two different series. The DCM Series, and the DPM Series.
01:16
We’ll cover both of these series here.
01:18
The Digital Cinema Monitor, or DCM Series, provides a Booth monitor, crossovers, EQ and Intrinsic Correction.
01:27
This is the perfect choice to compliment an existing cinema processor, or for legacy, film-only installations.
01:34
This is a good example of a typical system design using our DCM 300 that’s receiving it’s analog input from an existing cinema processor.
01:44
Note that it can handle a 7.1 surround system complete with passive, bi, tri, or quad-amp screen channels.
01:52
The Digital Processing Monitor, or DPM Series includes the same features, including Intrinsic Correction,
02:00
but 10 digital inputs, signal processing and remote status monitoring through the DPM Manager application.
02:09
The DPM Series models are an all-in-one solution that receive their digital input directly from the Integrated Media block, or server.
02:18
They feature full graphic and parametric EQ and include more surround and subwoofer outputs for very large rooms.
02:26
The DPM series can also accommodate passive, bi-, tri-,or quad-amp screen channel operation,
02:32
and the DPM 300H includes an HDMI input that de-codes Dolby Digital Plus™
02:39
and DTS-HD® multi-channel surround formats from sources like blue ray players and satellite receivers.
02:46
We’ve included some links to the Specs for these processors in the Links & Downloads section so you can spend more time really digging into the details.
02:54
And then there’s the Q-SYS Ecosystem for Cinema which allows for a deeper, integrated solution for video, audio, and control.
03:02
Q-SYS can serve all of the functions of a Cinema processor, but can also do a whole lot more.
03:08
On top of software-based signal processing and routing, Q-SYS can also handle all the control you need, AND monitor every device in the system.
03:18
The Q-SYS Core is the engine for the Ecosystem.
03:22
We have several options when it comes to Core processors from small to large, based on channel count, processing power, and I/O options.
03:31
The Core 8 Flex and Core Nano processors feature a 64 x 64 channel count with the 8 Flex offering 8 flexible channels
03:41
that can be configured as either inputs or outputs, or some of each.
03:45
The Core 110f processor features 128 x 128 total network channels and a plethora of onboard I/O options.
03:55
The Core 510i processor, with 256 x 256 channels features 8 I/O card slots to be used with a variety of optional cards depending on your needs.
04:09
Our DCIO and DCIO-H are not processors, but cinema-specific interfaces that serve as the audio I/O for each screen in a Q-SYS™ enabled cinema complex.
04:22
It includes AES3 inputs that come directly from a cinema server, Mic/Line inputs, GPIO and Relays, and even outputs for Hearing Impaired and Visually Impaired audio.
04:34
PLUS an output with 10 watts of power for a booth monitor.
04:39
The DCIO – along with a Q-SYS Core processor, our network amplifiers and Digital Cinema Series loudspeakers make up the Q-SYS Ecosystem for Cinema installations,
04:51
and provides a cost-effective way to realize the SYNERGY that comes from a full QSC solution.
04:57
Let’s talk about QSC amplifiers.
05:00
Since their introduction over 20 years ago,
05:03
QSC’s DCA Series amplifiers have become the de facto industry standard for cinema installations, used in more than half of the world’s movie theatres.
05:13
And since all of our cinema processors come with Dataport connectors, they’re a perfect match with our DCA Series amplifiers.
05:21
These VGA-style Dataport connectors simplify wiring and make installation fast and easy.
05:27
A single QSC DataPort connection includes two channels of audio and everything else you see here.
05:33
DCA Series amplifiers have five 2-channel and two 4 channel models that vary in power from 200 to 1700 watts- per channel.
05:43
And these are some of the notable features of DCA amplifiers.
05:47
They include, Active Inrush Limiting, which allows them to be turned on and off safely without expensive AC power sequencers,
05:55
and PowerLight technology, which delivers bigger bass, cleaner highs AND eliminates hum and reduces noise.
06:04
The CX-Q Series are network amplifiers designed for the Q-SYS Ecosystem. We have 4 and 8-channel models ranging to a total maximum power of up to 8000 W.
06:16
This is a good time to talk about some of the pretty cool technology that we’ve built into our CX-Q amplifier series.
06:23
(FAST), or Flexible amplifier Summing Technology distributes the total amplifier power across either one,
06:30
two, three or all four channels depending on how the amplifier is configured.
06:35
This allows the amplifier to operate in both Bridge and Parallel modes and delivers the highest single channel power at 6 ohms
06:45
(the sweet spot between standard 4 and 8 ohm loads).
06:48
Along with FAST, these network amps feature another QSC signature innovation, FlexAmp.
06:55
FlexAmp allows each channel to deliver only the amount of power required by the loudspeaker load on that channel.
07:03
So, for instance, to power a QSC SC-444 screen channel loudspeaker using an amplifier rated at 4000 total Watts,
07:12
your low frequency cabinets could take 1500 watts each,
07:16
the midrange driver could take 500 watts and your high and very high frequency drivers still have more than enough power to drive them.
07:25
And it happens automatically with no setup required from the user.
07:29
FlexAmp and FAST make the CX-Q series incredibly versatile, and eliminate the need for multiple, single-purpose amplifiers.
