Patrick: Welcome back.
00:07
In this video, we're gonna talk about the management options in Q-SYS RoomSuite Modular System.
00:12
It's time to talk about the thrilling world of network settings.
00:17
Yay.
00:18
Nate: Seriously, this stuff is actually pretty important, so try to keep up.
00:22
Back in the RoomSuite Manager, let's look at the Status page.
00:25
This contains details about the RMP-100 itself and the various peripherals connected to it, either directly or via the QIO-VEN4.
00:34
You'll also notice the VEN4 itself listed there, as well as the displays and the available video inputs on both the RMP-100 and QIO-VEN4.
00:45
This section is largely informational, although you can edit the system name if you'd like.
00:50
I'm actually gonna name mine Candy Conference Corner to match the room name we specified earlier to show on our touchscreen controller.
00:59
Patrick: Next, let's look at the Network Settings, starting with Basic sub-menu.
01:04
It contains all the usual options for network configurations for both of the AUX network ports on the RMP-100.
01:11
The processor is set to DHCP right out of the box, but you can, of course, assign static addressing to either or both of those network ports.
01:21
Nate: Next, we have Date and Time where, shockingly, we can specify the date and time, or connect to an NTP server to fetch this information for us.
01:32
Patrick: Certificates contain a whole bunch of information that you almost certainly will never need unless you're deep into the dark arts of networking and cybersecurity.
01:41
Secure Communications is in the same vein, as is 802.1x, but if you need to adjust these in conjunction with your IT department, this is where you'll find them.
01:52
Nate: Our next menu item is Access Management.
01:55
Now, this one, this is important, and you will need to, and I cannot encourage you strongly enough to use this.
02:03
Underneath the Access Management heading is a single option, Users.
02:08
All RMP-100s, like regular Q-SYS Cores, are shipped with access management disabled, and like regular Q-SYS Cores,
02:16
it's almost always a good idea to enable access management on your RMP-100 when you deploy it.
02:23
This works in the exact same way as in Q-SYS Core Manager.
02:27
First, I'll enable access control, which will prompt me to create a username and password,
02:34
and as soon as I confirm my password and hit save, I'm outta here.
02:40
No, seriously, now that access control is enabled,
02:43
I'll need those credentials to get back into Q-SYS Room Suite Manager and make any further changes to the configuration of the system or access the controls,
02:51
and you don't need to be deep into the dark arts of networking and cybersecurity to understand that putting some kind of a barrier between your system
02:59
and anyone that can access it on the network is probably a good idea.
03:04
I will log back in, and we can continue.
03:08
Diving back into access management, you'll see that I now have two options: users and roles.
03:15
As you might imagine, users lets me add more users or edit the ones you gots.
03:20
If I hit this new user button, I'm prompted to create another username and password, but also to choose a role for this new user.
03:29
Different roles provide different levels of access, from viewer, which is largely read-only access, to administrator, or king of all candy mode, as they call it here at RoomSuites.
03:41
If the predefined roles don't quite fit the bill for a certain user, you can always choose the roles menu option and create a custom role,
03:49
where you can get very specific about which areas you wish to allow a user to edit or even view.
03:55
Patrick: All right, let's move on to the utilities section.
03:58
This contains an event log, which you can easily filter, sort, and search, and even export a CSV file.
04:05
Also under the utilities section is the system and firmware update menu.
04:10
This is also a distinctly different process from standard Q-SYS deployments that use Q-SYS Designer Software.
04:16
For RoomSuite, all firmware updates are applied manually from this section of RoomSuite Manager.
04:23
Simply download the latest Q-SYS RoomSuite software from our website and upload that folder here.
04:29
The download page will give you further instructions on this process.
04:33
We can also reboot the system from this section if you want, or if necessary, download the system log,
04:39
although you should only have to do this if you've been asked by a member of the Q-SYS support team, because you need a special tool to even read the resulting log file.
04:48
Nate: Finally, we come to Reflect Registration.
04:51
By now, I expect you're familiar with Q-SYS Reflect, our cloud-based management and monitoring software,
04:56
but what Reflect can do in conjunction with the Q-SYS RoomSuite platform is so powerful that we've got a whole nother video just on that topic coming up.
05:05
Patrick: But next, we'll look at the final steps of your room setup.
05:09
Move on whenever you're ready.
