Hello and welcome to Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager Training. My name is Patrick Heyn.
00:12
And I’m Nate Makaryk.
00:13
In this course, we’ll introduce you to QSC’s cloud-based AV remote monitoring and management platform.
00:19
We’ll start with the basic architecture, so you have a better understanding of how it works.
00:23
First and foremost,
00:24
Q-SYS Reflect is a secure, web platform that is hosted on a mainstream Cloud service provider.
00:30
It allows QSC to develop and deploy modern software products
00:34
and services that extend the Q-SYS Platform beyond the Local Area Network.
00:39
Enterprise Manager is the first of many AV services to be deployed on Q-SYS Reflect.
00:45
Enterprise Manager is an IT-centric remote monitoring and management solution
00:49
that allows you to monitor multiple systems in multiple locations,
00:52
so you can get data on both your native Q-SYS devices as well as third party peripherals.
00:57
And all of this is all accomplished without any programming experience.
01:02
Let’s get started.
01:03
The Q-SYS Reflect Cloud infrastructure is broken into three levels, starting with the Organization at the top.
01:10
The ORGANIZATION represents your company as a whole, let’s call it NateCorp.
01:15
That sounds like a great place to work!
01:17
NateCorp is a big organization with offices in Los Angeles and New York.
01:22
In Enterprise Manager, we’ll call these SITES.
01:26
A SITE typically refers to a physical building or campus,
01:30
while an organization can contain as many sites as the organization requires.
01:35
The third tier is each individual SYSTEM … because any Site can have multiple SYSTEMS,
01:41
which is represented by a single Design file running on a Core.
01:44
For example,
01:45
the Los Angeles site has one large SYSTEM that’s using an Enterprise Core to run paging for the building,
01:52
and a second system that’s using a dedicated Core 110f to run a mission-critical boardroom.
01:58
And obviously,
01:59
each of these systems contains PERIPHERALS which are native to Q-SYS like a QSC amplifier,
02:06
cameras, touchscreens, etc.,
02:07
as well as third party devices with plugins like third-party lighting control, HVAC, displays, you name it!
02:15
Every Core already automatically acts as a system-level aggregator for data from its own peripherals.
02:21
This means that when it comes to connecting all of this to the Reflect cloud,
02:25
the only device that requires an internet connection is the Q-SYS Core;
02:29
there are no extraneous links between your individual peripheral devices and the Cloud.
02:34
This is great because fewer device connections to the Internet
02:37
means increased system security for your installation!
02:40
We’ll talk about how to connect your Q-SYS Core to the Reflect cloud later in the course.
02:46
Once your systems are connected to the Reflect Cloud,
02:49
Enterprise Manager can help you use this data
02:52
to provide valuable business outcomes for your organization.
02:55
You can use Enterprise Manager’s realtime system monitoring,
02:59
customizable alerts, and remote operation tools
03:02
to equip the right support staff with the right information and the right tools to do their jobs,
03:08
often times before the end user ever knows that anything has gone wrong.
03:13
Lastly, there are a number of ways you can
03:15
view and interact with the data and features you get from Enterprise Manager.
03:19
The first is an easy-to-use browser-based interface,
03:22
which you can access from essentially any connected PC or mobile tablet.
03:27
The second way will allow
03:28
your AV platform to connect and share data to other IT platforms.
03:33
The Shangri-La scenario for IT administrators has always been to
03:36
aggregate data from all their different subsystems
03:38
onto a single pane of glass: from servers, telephony, .. and YES even AV systems.
03:44
Often times, they will use building management systems or software applications
03:48
like Splunk or Solarwinds to accomplish this,
03:51
but historically, AV data has been next to impossible to connect to systems like this.
03:56
Enterprise Manager solves that problem.
03:58
Customers can use the Q-SYS Reflect RESTful API to extract real-time status and timestamped Event Logs
04:06
from the Q-SYS Reflect database for use in any other software platform.
04:11
This ability opens up worlds of possibilities,
04:14
letting you use insights from AV data to feed the decision making processes for your entire enterprise!
04:21
In a nutshell, that’s Q-SYS Reflect Enterprise Manager.
04:24
The next few tutorials will review things such as the registration process,
04:28
connecting Cores to the Reflect Cloud, and creating user privileges.
04:32
Feel free to continue whenever you’re ready.
