00:15
The TouchMix comes with several factory installed scenes.
00:19
These are are very helpful, as you can load a selection of common presets for a base band to get your mix set up even faster.
00:27
One of the default factory scenes is the “Praise Band” scene.
00:31
If you just pulled your TouchMix out of the box for the very first time, then pulling up this scene is an excellent place to start.
00:40
To access this scene, press “Menu” and then select “Scenes”.
00:46
Or, from the Home screen, you can press this square here that says, “Scene.”
00:51
Now on the Scenes page, under the factory choices, choose “Praise Band.” Then press the “recall” button.
01:03
The praise band default scene was especially created for a standard House of Worship scenario
01:09
which can then be tailored by the user to accommodate their church’s and praise band’s specific requirements.
01:16
Let’s start by looking at our 4 banks of input channels across the top.
01:21
Our first band Inputs 1-8, include our drum inputs.
01:25
Our second bank, 9-16, include and input for percussion,
01:31
bass, 2 stereo keyboards and 2 electric guitars.
01:36
Our third bank inputs, 17-24,
01:40
include 2 acoustic guitar inputs, 2 male voices, 2 female vocal with a handheld mic and headset mic for spoken word.
01:51
The fourth bank includes stereo inputs which are set up for a computer,
01:55
a click and background music.
01:58
The record fader is set at unity ready to record your service.
02:03
The input channels in the praise band scene have already been preloaded with QSC’s world class instruments presets,
02:11
including EQ, dynamics and FX.
02:15
So, without changing any channel parameters,
02:18
your praise band and spoken word will sound great right out of the box.
02:23
This bank here titled “FX masters” is already pre-loaded with the FX.
02:29
The master faders are already set to nominal levels
02:33
and the individual instrument channels are also set at nominal levels and sending signal to these FX buses.
02:40
Over here on the far right are DCA faders
02:44
where multiple channels have been grouped into 1 fader.
02:48
So if I wanted to turn up, let’s say, all of the backing vocals,
02:52
I could just use this “backing vocals” DCA fader.
02:57
If I wanted to turn down all of the drums, I would use this “drums” DCA fader to turn all of the drum channels down at once.
03:08
Now let’s look at our output channels on the left of the screen.
03:12
Your main mix outputs will always be shown at the top left corner.
03:17
The first 6 Auxes are set up for floor wedges for your band.
03:21
Aux 7 and 8 is a stereo broadcast mix that you can send to your livestream.
03:27
Aux 9 is a mix that can be sent to the cry room.
03:31
Aux 10 is a fill loudspeaker that might be used in the entrance or perhaps an outside seating area.
03:38
Aux 11, 12, 13, 14 have been set up for stereo in-ear mixes for your drummer and bass player.
03:46
Now, most churches will not follow this template exactly
03:49
so, let’s make some changes to our default praise band template and customize it for our church.
03:56
Let’s look at inputs 1-8 which is our drum inputs.
04:01
Our church drum kit doesn’t have rack toms.
04:04
We’ve decided to clear these channels and leave them available for other instruments in the future.
04:10
Touch the title of Tom Rack 1.
04:13
In the overview tab, touch reset.
04:17
All the parameters have been set back to 0.
04:21
I’ll use this next arrow here to scroll over to the next channel, Tom Rack 2, and then touch reset.
04:31
Now press the home button to return to the main mix window and press inputs 9-16.
04:38
Instead of a percussion mic here, our church would like to change that to a djembe preset.
04:45
So I will touch the title, then choose presets,
04:49
choose the percussion category, then touch djembe, then press recall.
04:59
When I return to the mix window, we see that channel 9 is now a djembe preset channel.
05:05
Channel 16 is a 2nd electric guitar but our church doesn’t have a 2nd electric guitar player.
05:12
Instead they have a violin player so we will enter in a preset for a violin.
05:19
Touch the title. Touch Presets, Then touch strings, then fiddle,
05:27
And since our violin player is using a pick-up we will choose the preset “fiddle bridge pickup.” Then touch recall.
05:38
When we return to our main mix window we see that channel 16 is now a fiddle channel.
05:44
But we would like to change the name to violin. Press the title, Press set up, and then type violin.
05:57
You will want to update your DCA groups if you loaded new instrument presets.
06:02
When you load a new instrument preset that channel will automatically be unassigned from any DCA that it was previously assigned to.
06:12
But in this particular scene, we will want to add these channels back to the DCA marked BAND which includes ALL of the instruments.
06:22
Press DCA groups. Press band and then select the 4 instrument channels that you loaded presets for to be included in the band DCA.
06:34
Now let’s change some of the names of our Aux mixes.
06:39
There are a few ways to do this. Make sure the “main mix” square is highlighted blue
06:45
then touch Aux Out 1-8.
06:49
Touch the title of the 1st aux titles left front monitor. Then touch set up.
06:57
We will rename that “keyboard monitor".
07:01
Now let’s say we wanted to rename the second aux, worship leader.
07:07
Touch the next arrow here and then change that title to “worship leader”.
07:14
Now let’s change aux 10 which is titled fill to a new title.
07:19
On the left of your screen touch Fill, aux 10. Then go over to the title above the master fader and select it.
07:27
Make sure set up is selected and then retitle that “courtyard.”
07:34
Once you’ve made changes to the factory praise band scene,
07:37
you’ll want to be sure to save it as a new name so you’ll be ready to go, the next time you need this scene.
07:44
Touch this box here that says "Scene". Touch “save as.” I’ll title this scene “our church”,
07:54
but feel free to name your scene whatever makes sense and is appropriate for you. Then touch save.
08:05
Alright, Our church’s scene is customized and ready to go.
08:10
Thank you for watching and I will see you on the next video.
